Energy Transition in Focus at the Offshore Energy Conference 2022

Energy Transition in Focus at the Offshore Energy Conference 2022

Held at the Amsterdam RAI on 29th & 30th November, the Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference 2022 was billed as the venue “where the energy transition takes place” and after being there in person, TrueOcean’s Philippe Take would agree.

“There’s a very strong focus on what’s coming next at the conference and throughout the exhibition,” he said. “The talk was of hydrogen and offshore wind, which many businesses are counting on not just to solve the current and future energy challenges, but to ensure their products and services are in demand in the coming years.”

Certainly, the atmosphere was buoyant, considering the potential future opportunities. The conference sessions talked about building up offshore wind capacity and the problems that energy companies face in expanding production with new wind farms, from the very real political, social, and administrative challenges to more technical issues that demand investment and innovation from technology developers and marine contractors.

“As we expected, there was a lot of new technology on show during the exhibition, covering everything from deck hardware through to operational technology and digital solutions. One theme that tied them all together was efficiency as, without it, the current offshore engineering processes and workflows will not be able to keep up with demand from the offshore renewables sector,” added Philippe.

Data management was also an integral topic, with the TrueOcean Marine Data Platform being an innovative example of a diverse cloud solution designed to contribute to the efficiencies needed to enable the fast build up of offshore wind energy production capacity.

“With the knowledge that all the offshore engineering and construction needed to enable the energy transition depends on the availability of massive amounts of marine data to succeed, there was certainly a lot of interest in what we are doing at TrueOcean. Marine survey companies are well aware of the opportunities ahead but the huge data management task demands new workflows and processes that we can help to unlock,” said Philippe.

In this context, the renewable energy and marine survey company stakeholders we talked to in Amsterdam this week were very interested to hear about the TrueOcean MDP, which you can read more about here
