Geospatial Search: Simplifying Ocean Data Access and Management
In today's fast-paced ocean industry, the ability to efficiently manage and locate hydrographic survey and underwater inspection data is crucial. The...
Last week, north.io had the privilege of participating in two significant conferences in Busan, South Korea: the Ocean Tech Conference (OT-CON), hosted by GABLER Korea, and the prestigious 18th World Ocean Forum. Both events offered invaluable opportunities to discuss the future of marine technology and sustainability, with north.io showcasing its groundbreaking solutions.
On September 24-25, 2024, the Ocean Tech Conference gathered around 120 industry leaders, including representatives from the Korean Navy, sensor producers, scientists, and government officials. The event focused on innovations in marine technology, emphasizing the importance of German-South Korean partnerships to drive progress in ocean sustainability, offshore wind farm protection, and marine infrastructure security.
north.io presented its cutting-edge Ocean Data Platform, TrueOcean, designed to streamline and enhance the management and analysis of ocean data, playing a crucial role in addressing the complex challenges facing marine industries.
"By providing a powerful tool for visualising and analysing underwater and ocean data, the platform enables stakeholders to make informed decisions, whether they are working on offshore wind projects or seeking to improve the sustainable use of marine infrastructure."
- Dr. Simon van der Wullp, Solutions Engineer at north.io
At the 18th World Ocean Forum, also held in Busan last week, Jann Wendt, CEO of north.io, delivered an insightful presentation on the intersection of dataspaces and innovative solutions for addressing climate change and environmental protection. Jann highlighted two of north.io’s key projects—Marispace-X and Fish-X—which leverage AI to reconstruct data and promote sustainability in some of the world’s most challenging marine environments.
Marispace-X focuses on enabling secure data-sharing across public and private marine sectors, while Fish-X uses AI to enhance sustainability in fisheries by improving data accessibility and fisheries transparency. These projects demonstrate how combining advanced technology with environmental responsibility can lead to smarter, more sustainable marine practices that benefit both the environment and industries reliant on ocean resources.
Both conferences underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation in advancing the Blue Economy. north.io’s participation in these events highlighted its commitment to driving the digital transformation of ocean data management while addressing critical global challenges like climate change and marine sustainability.
