Krueger & Neumann Jan 30, 2025

Kiel, Germany. Preparations for the Kiel Munition Clearance Week 2025 (KMCW25), which will take place in Kiel from June 18 to 20, 2025, are in full swing. The official website and trailer are now online. Registration for the event is open. The Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, is the patron of the event.
“The Kiel Munition Clearance Week 2025 is an excellent opportunity to promote cross-border cooperation and innovative approaches to protecting our seas. The recovery of munitions in the sea is an enormous and urgent task that one country alone cannot solve. With the Kiel Munition Clearance Week 2025, Schleswig-Holstein is once again demonstrating how important it is to tackle global challenges together. At the same time, events like this offer great economic opportunities, especially for companies and innovations in the region," said Günther.

The event is organised by north.io, a Kiel-based company specialising in underwater data integration and processing, in cooperation with the Ministry for Energy Conversion, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (MEKUN).
KMCW25 will gather international experts, policy makers, and industry leaders in Kiel to discuss the future of marine munitions clearance and the protection of critical underwater infrastructure. The progress of the pilot clearance operation in the Bay of Lübeck and the ongoing development of a floating mobile disposal system will also be presented for the first time. In addition to munitions clearance, the event will also address the safeguarding of pipelines, offshore wind farms and communication cables.
The programme will include expert presentations, panel discussions and live demonstrations of state-of-the-art technologies. A public side event will be held at GEOMAR on 19th of June, where the topic of munitions clearance will be presented to a wider audience. The event will provide an interesting insight into the communication of challenges and progress in this field. Further information will be published soon.
“The Kiel Munition Clearance Week 2025 offers a unique forum to promote new technologies and international cooperation. Schleswig-Holstein plays a key role in marine protection by not only promoting technological solutions, but also providing important political impulses for an intact marine environment,” said Environment Minister Tobias Goldschmidt.
“For us at north.io, KMCW25 is a key opportunity to present our expertise and digital technologies for the sustainable clearance of munitions from the seas. The event provides an excellent platform to connect with partners and jointly develop solutions for global challenges,” said Jann Wendt, KMCW-initiator and CEO of north.io.
