Achieving a notable milestone, cloud geospatial specialist north.io has won the prestigious AI Nations and Sustainable Innovation Award from Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) during the NVIDIA GTC 2024 AI-conference (GTC24) in San Jose, California on March 21st.
Founded by legendary Silicon Valley venture capitalists Young Sohn and Bill Tai, XTC is the world's largest startup competition and ecosystem showcasing the most innovative technology founders addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The goal of XTC is to identify potential market-leading companies that can make a big impact on the world and provide them with the fuel necessary to scale rapidly.
Unlocking ocean potential
This recognition underscores north.io's technical prowess in harnessing the power of accelerated computing and AI to unlock the vast potential of the ocean economy that was also showcased during GTC24.
Jann Wendt, CEO of north.io, expressed his excitement:

The AI Nations and Sustainable Futures Day Innovation Award is endowed with 5,000 US dollars.

The award ceremony took place during the Climate AI Startup Demo at AI Nations and Sustainable Futures Day, co-hosted by the Extreme Tech Challenge and NVIDIA. The event showcased startups and emerging technologies that are poised to reshape our world. Discussions explored critical issues, including the central role of AI factories in digitization, fortifying cities through geospatial tools, and how nations are strategically using AI for economic resilience and climate adaptation.
Promoting the sustainable use of the earth's resources
Jann Wendt presented north.io's SaaS solutions that provide geoinformatics, big data processing, AI and cloud computing to ensure the responsible use of oceans and land. Alongside presentations from impact start-ups Bug Mars and ClimaSens, who showcased their climate tech solutions, the attending policymakers, officials and tech visionaries gained new insights to inspire a future of sustainability and resilience
