From major project milestones and industry recognitions to strategic repositioning and groundbreaking discoveries, 2025 has been a defining year, one that sets the stage for an even more ambitious future.
One of the most significant highlights of our year was being recognised as one of the Global Top 100 Geospatial Companies – again! This acknowledgement underscores our ongoing contribution to geospatial innovation, ocean intelligence, and advanced data management.
Being included in this global benchmark is more than an accolade; it reflects our team’s relentless pursuit of excellence and our commitment to enabling data-driven insights across the marine and geospatial sectors.
The year began with the successful wrap-up of the Marispace-X project, an ambitious endeavour in which we joined a consortium dedicated to unlocking the potential of secure ocean data spaces. With the project’s conclusion, we delivered meaningful contributions toward data sovereignty, digital ocean innovation, and the future of interoperable marine data ecosystems.
Our involvement helped shape new approaches to data sharing within the maritime domain, approaches that will influence innovation for years to come.
As part of our efforts to foster marine awareness and engage with thought leaders, we supported Kiel Munition Clearance Week (KMCW). The event highlighted the importance of global ocean stewardship and provided a platform for exploring how digital technologies, like those developed at north.io, can support conservation, sustainable resource management, and scientific collaboration.
During REPMUS 2025, we showcased our capability as the digital backbone for Underwater Domain Awareness. Our role underscored the increasing demand for reliable, scalable, and secure ocean data systems that support situational awareness, mission planning, and autonomous operations.
From data fusion to near real-time visualisation, our technologies once again demonstrated that state-of-the-art ocean intelligence requires state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, and this is precisely what north.io stands for.
This year marked a strategic turning point. north.io sharpened its identity and solidified its position as "The Ocean Big Data Specialist."
We expanded our focus beyond individual products and moved toward delivering holistic, integrated ocean big data solutions tailored to the complex needs of public authorities, defence clients, environmental institutions, and the offshore industry. This evolution reflects our belief that solving the ocean’s biggest challenges requires scalable systems, seamless interoperability, and domain expertise, all woven into powerful digital geodata solutions.
Our work also garnered recognition from the broader tech ecosystem. We were proud to be named a finalist for the IONOS Partner Award, celebrating excellence among cloud technology innovators. Combined with our placement among the Top 100 Geospatial Companies 2025, this dual recognition reinforces our leadership across both geospatial and cloud-enabled marine intelligence.
At Hydro 2025, we connected with industry peers, showcased our latest advancements, and shared our vision for the future of hydrography. A special highlight was the attention drawn to a shipwreck discovery, where our technology and expertise played a key role in unravelling the data behind the find.
Moments like this demonstrate the profound impact accurate, accessible, and intelligently processed ocean data can have, whether in science, heritage preservation, or safety.
Knowledge sharing continues to be part of our DNA. This year, we proudly published two in-depth White Papers, contributing thought leadership to the fields of Offshore Innovation and Ocean Big Data. These publications reflect both our expertise and our desire to empower the broader community with new insights and actionable guidance.
With our strengthened positioning as The Ocean Big Data Specialist, we continue our mission to transform the world’s ocean data into meaningful, powerful, and responsible solutions.
Here’s to another year of innovation, collaboration, and making waves above and below the surface.
