Kiel, Germany and New York, USA — north.io GmbH today announced a collaboration with Chesapeake Technology, Inc., the developer of SonarWiz, a leading software solution for marine geophysical data visualization and processing, including its cloud-based SonarWiz FATHOM environment.
The collaboration focuses on establishing technical interoperability between north.io's Ocean Data Platform and SonarWiz FATHOM. Through north.io's API, the two companies aim to enable joint customers to transfer marine survey data from the Ocean Data Platform into SonarWiz FATHOM for advanced processing and analysis, and to export processed results back into the Ocean Data Platform for centralized data management, visualization, and collaboration.
The intended workflow connects cloud-based data management with expert-level sonar data processing, supporting a streamlined data lifecycle from storage and access to analysis and reuse. Processing and interpretation are performed within SonarWiz FATHOM, while the Ocean Data Platform serves as the system of record for managing, organizing, and sharing datasets across teams and projects.
By reducing manual data handling and improving interoperability between platforms, the collaboration is designed to support scalable and modern workflows for marine data professionals working with complex sonar and geophysical datasets.
"Our collaboration with Chesapeake Technology reflects a shared commitment to open interfaces and interoperable workflows," said Jann Wendt, Founder and CEO of north.io. "By enabling API-based data exchange between the Ocean Data Platform and SonarWiz FATHOM, we aim to support our joint customers in building efficient, flexible workflows that connect processing and data management in a practical way."
"The future of ocean data has arrived," said Evan Reinsberg, President and CEO of Chesapeake Technology. "We're excited to collaborate with north.io to give marine survey professionals the connected, cloud-native workflows they've been asking for. Combining the Ocean Data Platform's robust data management capabilities with SonarWiz FATHOM's advanced processing creates a seamless pipeline that eliminates friction and lets our customers focus on what matters—delivering high-quality survey results."
The collaboration represents a shared vision to advance cloud-enabled marine data workflows through interoperability, scalability, and close alignment with the tools already used by the marine data community.
